Paula and Cathy discuss the ongoing disaster of the oil gushing into the Gulf of Mexico and question why the government and the people of the US could respond so quickly in the 70s to an oil shortage by cutting oil use dramatically, but not in this decade. Faced with 9-11, peak oil, wars for oil, global warming and now an oil gusher, the government continues to push road building as economic stimulus. Rich Whitney, Green Party candidate for Illinois governor, is on a sustainable transportation tour, ending at the Heartwood Forest Conference this weekend, and people are encouraged to participate.
